We will prune the Crepes to a tree shape. Some have been so badly pruned in years past we can get them reshaped but it takes a focused effort. What we will not do is chop them off and leave stumps. This severe pruning in the past is allowing a scale pest opportunity and it is getting worse over the past year. We also believe it is allowing Aphids to be more of a problem and Powdery Mildew. Pruning crepe myrthles is stressing to the trees and pests will first attack a tree in stress. That’s how nature works.
